THANK YOU

This past June 6th, Granada-born guitarist Alberto Cuéllar thrilled us with a delightful classical guitar concert-talk at el Bote de Luz art space in Canillas de Aceituno (Málaga). It was an intimate and welcoming experience, in which the small audience soared with some of the masterpieces of the Spanish guitar repertoire.

Following this concert, an opportunity arose that we couldn't let slip away. Greek concert artist Ioanna Kazoglou, who lives in Germany, will be participating in the 1st Málaga International Guitar Competition, which takes place in early July. Thanks to Alberto Cuéllar, she has decided to extend her stay to give a concert for a small audience at el Bote de Luz on July 10th.

It's a unique opportunity. Kazoglou arrives in Málaga after recently adding two new awards to her long list of accolades: 🥇 1st Prize at the Athens International Guitar Festival (April 2025), and 🥈 2nd Prize at the Puerto Rico World Guitar Festival (May 2025).

Her deep and refined style, her expressiveness and interpretive charisma, her poetic and luminous sound —perhaps an inheritance from her Mediterranean roots —and great technical precision allow her to both immerse the listener in the spirituality of the great classics and delight with the freshness of more contemporary works.

"Ioanna Kazoglou is the new global guitar sensation. She is a revelation and the future of our beloved instrument," says José Antonio López, guitarist, composer, and director of the Puerto Rican festival.

Kazoglou will perform, among other works, Sonata K.27, by Domenico Scarlatti (1685—1757); Tres piezas españolas , by Joaquín Rodrigo (1901-1999); Collectici Intim, by Vicente Asencio (1908-1979), and Snowdrop, by Konstantin Vassiliev (1970). "It's going to be a complete journey through the history of the guitar repertoire," explains Cuéllar.

In addition, she will talk to us about the pieces she will play, her love for music, and perhaps she will tell us also how she came to the Spanish guitar from Lemos, her small hometown in Greece.

Kazoglou was born in 2003. At her young age, she has already toured, performed as a soloist, and given recitals in a wide range of countries, including Greece, South Korea, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Italy, and Germany.

At the end of the concert, a complimentary glass of wine will be offered and there will be an opportunity to chat with the artist.

Ioanna Kazoglou's recital is part of el Bote de Luz's philosophy of offering artistic and cultural experiences for small audiences, often intertwining various disciplines—particularly photography, music, and moving images. These include concerts such as those of Spanish guitar, where attendees can hear the artist's breathing, follow the dance of fingers on the strings and frets, and feel the very heartbeat of the guitar.
