Asia and photography
PROJECT AND PHILOSOPHY. eStudio Asia is an independent publishing studio, whose activity revolves around Asian photography; in particular, photobooks , and the work of artists and creators whose work is related to this area of the world. With a priority: visual poetry, not in the academic sense of the term, but as a fusion of two concepts that we consider inseparable from the foundations of this artistic discipline called photography.
The objective of eStudio Asia is to publish, print and disseminate the work of its members and collaborators, with careful editing and attention to design, to give life to works, generally in limited and numbered editions, in which the form is a natural extension From the bottom. We want to take advantage of the best of both worlds ⏤analog and digital; tradition, and the avant-garde⏤, diluting its borders.
The look of Asian artists on the world, on their environment, on themselves and their culture, as well as that of non-Asian photographers on this part of the planet constitute the heart of the project. Through them, we want to show other ways of seeing and interpreting the reality that surrounds us, and of dreaming and inquiring about the human soul.
The text-image relationship, the visual narrative, the moving image, the sound, and other content not strictly linked to photography also have a place in eStudio Asia. On some occasions, they are an extension of the photographer's gaze through other languages of artistic expression. In others, they have their place because of their beauty or because we believe that they may be of interest to anyone who is passionate about this artistic discipline and Asia.
At the same time, we seek to contribute to the knowledge and dissemination of Asian art, through talks, conferences, and the publication on the studio's website and social networks of photographs, book reviews, news, and calls for exhibitions, festivals of art and other events.
eStudio Asia has been founded by Jose Reinoso, as a result of his passion for this part of the world, photography and creation. In 2002, he settled in Beijing to work as a foreign correspondent. He resided in the Chinese capital until the end of 2018. eStudio Asia is open to cooperation projects with other artists, studios, galleries and publishers that proceed or develop initiatives related to Asia.
