Art in a rural setting

el Bote de Luz (the Light Boat) is a physical art space created by eStudio Asia in an old house in the center of the village of Canillas de Aceituno, in Málaga. It features several areas for exhibitions, workshops, and other artistic expressions, as well as a shop where visitors can acquire original photographic artworks, books on photography and astronomy, and high-quality reproductions of Asian paintings.

Photography is the core of the project, particularly work originating in Asia, but also that of other artists and creators whose work is connected to that part of the world. In parallel, we carry out artistic projects linked to the local geography, history, and culture.

The relationship between text and image, visual narrative, moving image, sound, and other content not strictly related to photography also play a fundamental role at el Bote de Luz. We believe that art is not only to be viewed and consumed, but also to be reflected upon — how seeing through art can expand and enrich our perception of our surroundings.

Our goal is to offer diverse experiences in which multiple disciplines often intertwine; particularly photography, music, and moving image.

In addition, we host workshops and talks that aim to address a wide range of topics — from issues related to art and culture to social matters and the challenges of our time. Their purpose is to serve as a forum for the exchange of knowledge and perspectives among participants.
