A space for art

el Bote de Luz is a physical art space created by eStudio Asia in an old house in the centre of the village of Canillas de Aceituno, in Málaga. It includes several areas for exhibitions, workshops and other forms of artistic expression, as well as a shop offering photographs from our own artistic projects, books on photography and astronomy, and high-quality reproductions of Asian paintings.

Photography lies at the heart of the project, particularly photography originating in Asia, as well as the work of other artists and creators whose practice is connected to that part of the world.

At the same time, we develop artistic projects rooted in the local landscape, history and culture.

The relationship between text and image, visual narrative, the moving image, sound, and other forms of content not strictly related to photography also play a fundamental role at el Bote de Luz. We believe that art is not simply something to be viewed and consumed, but a means of reflecting on how seeing through art can broaden and enrich our perception of the world around us.

Our aim is also to offer artistic and cultural experiences in which different disciplines often intertwine, particularly photography, music and the moving image.

In addition, we organise workshops and talks addressing a wide range of subjects, from artistic and cultural questions to social issues and the challenges of our time. They are also intended to provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge and different points of view among participants.
