The Zen Art of the Tea Ceremony
A sensory experience through all five senses. It brings you closer to Asian culture and invites you to discover an ancient ritual.
The Chinese tea ceremony, known as gongfu cha, is a traditional art centred on the ritual preparation and appreciation of tea. Delicate teapots are used to prepare a series of short infusions designed to reveal the tea’s aromas and flavours. This practice transforms the act of drinking tea into an experience of harmony, serenity, mindfulness and conscious meditation.
During the ceremony, conducted by the tea master at Mo Tea Zen, a space dedicated to the art of tea, a series of infusions of different types of tea is sampled in an atmosphere of stillness, beauty and harmony where each sip becomes a moment of inner reflection. The ceremony thus takes on a dimension of performance art.
Participants also learn about the origins and culture of tea, how to appreciate its characteristics, and how the Chinese word for tea (茶, chá) symbolises the balance between human beings and nature.
It is a sensory experience engaging all five senses, bringing participants closer to Asian culture and offering an encounter with an ancient ritual deeply connected to Zen thought, Chinese painting and calligraphy.
