Collection: Resonancias de Canillas

Walk between white walls, under the sun and the blue sky, between the clouds and the wind.
Walk in front of the Mediterranean Sea, sheltered by the mountains and the forest.
The landscape stretches out before your eyes, lulled by the murmur of the water.
The light grows, and dissolves.
As evening falls, the sky catches fire. And the fire turns into indigo.
Nature resonates in silence, while the stars observe the night from a time that no longer exists.   ⏤Io

Resonancias de Canillas (Resonances of Canillas) is a group of photographic works about the geographical space of the village of Canillas de Aceituno (Málaga, Spain). Some elements of this space, such as the vegetation, soil, rivers, and streams, are natural, while others are social, economic, or cultural.

The term resonancias (resonances) refers to the physical phenomenon by which a sound is generated by the repercussion of another. In these works, it occurs when the imagined natural frequency of the photographer’s spirit coincides with the frequency of an external stimulus —be it a flower, sky, or architectural icon—, giving rise to an image, which, after a process of digital manipulation, seizes the soul of the geographical space.

Resonancias de Canillas is the result of the collaborative work of several photographers, joined under the collective pseudonym Io, for the el Bote de Luz art space. It is composed of three series: Flores #1, Cielos #1, and Cielos #2 (Flowers #1, Skies #1, and Skies #2).

The photographs have been printed using the highest-quality digital techniques. To achieve this, professional photographic paper Luster RC Premium 260 gsm and pigmented inks have been used. This kind of ink offers excellent sharpness, a rich color gamut, and durability owing to its high resistance to fading caused by light.
